Topeka Woman Killed Helping Crash Victim on Highway — Sep 11, 2026A 44-year-old Topeka social worker, Sarah J. McLaughlin-Olson, was killed while helping crash victims on U.S. Route 75 south of Topeka on Sept. 10, after a Ford F-350 pulling a horse trailer veered onto the shoulder to avoid other vehicles. The Honda Civic driver was seriously injured and McLaughlin-Olson’s death drew statements from her school community about her dedication and support for students and families.
