Cities Across Five States Consider Development Plans
Local governments in Charleston, Raton, Sanibel, Pike County and Boca Raton are weighing development proposals and other civic business in meetings scheduled or held in late 2026. Charleston’s architectural review board advanced conceptual and preliminary designs for projects spanning mixed-use development, health care, retail and hospitality, while Sanibel’s Planning Commission is set to review the Waterside Inn redevelopment and proposed land-use code changes. Boca Raton officials will consider major projects including a private club, an innovation center and Park Tower, alongside contracts, ordinances and the date of the 2027 city election. Raton commissioners’ agenda includes a rezoning request, wildfire-detection technology and fire equipment, while Pike County commissioners have addressed courthouse work, economic development and other county operations.
