Communities Plan Multiple Roadside Cleanups

Communities in Ohio, Maryland and South Carolina are organizing volunteer cleanups to remove litter, clear sidewalks and improve neighborhood appearance. Trotwood’s citywide cleanup is scheduled for Oct. 17, while volunteers in Lexington Park and Beaufort are set to work along Great Mills Road and Old Miller Road on Oct. 10; organizers say the efforts respond to local concerns and invite residents and groups to participate. In Vietnam, two men have independently spent more than three months clearing weeds and trash from about 10 kilometers of roads and sidewalks, hoping to encourage wider environmental awareness. Beaufort officials urge drivers to use caution because volunteers will work near traffic where the cleanup route has no sidewalks.
