Crashes bring down power lines across multiple roads
Three vehicle crashes damaged utility poles and brought down power lines. In Fairfax, Vermont, a Subaru left Route 104 and struck a pole early Thursday; the driver was wearing a seat belt, and airbags deployed. In Canton, Connecticut, a crash near Bristol Drive closed Route 44 Tuesday morning while crews addressed downed wires; no significant injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation. In New Zealand’s Lismore-Mayfield area, a truck and tractor collision damaged a pole, leaving 68 properties without power; crews replaced the pole and restored service, and no injuries were reported.
