Jail Assault Cases Span Five States
A Billerica House of Correction officer has been charged with assaulting an inmate by striking a cell door against the inmate’s arm and allegedly filing a false report about the incident. In separate cases, inmates in Oklahoma and North Carolina are accused of escaping or attempting to escape and assaulting detention officers; the North Carolina inmate also faces charges related to a jail fight and throwing a liquid at officers. In Texas, a 17-year-old juvenile-facility inmate was arrested after allegedly repeatedly punching an officer, who suffered a concussion and other injuries. In Minnesota, an inmate already held on attempted murder charges faces additional charges after allegedly pushing past a correctional officer, escaping his cell and causing her to fall and injure her knee.
