Two Sailors Face Separate Murder Cases

A Virginia Beach judge denied bond to Navy sailor Quentell Lawrence, who is charged with second-degree murder and a firearm offense in the shooting death of 22-year-old Natasha Forbes, the mother of his child. Prosecutors said officers heard gunshots before entering the couple’s apartment and that Lawrence shot himself in the head after the killing. Lawrence is also under investigation over the death of the couple’s infant, who prosecutors said died in his care the day before Forbes was killed. Prosecutors further said Forbes had stayed with a friend after learning of the infant’s death and that Lawrence sent relatives a message before the shooting indicating it would be his last. The case is being moved to Virginia Beach’s Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, with a preliminary hearing expected in November.
