We’re seeking a Human Resources Specialist who wants to be a part of our growing organization! In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to support our professional writers, editors, designers and videographers who create the most dynamic, breaking, newsworthy content on the internet.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with hiring managers and administer the full life-cycle of recruitment/talent acquisition process.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and offboarding procedures.
  • Maintain employee policies with updates and other pertinent information, as needed.
  • Administer employee enrollment for health care; provide special guidance and assistance to employees on employee benefits policies.
  • Serve as main point of contact for STD, FMLA, and COBRA.
  • Administer and oversee bi-annual performance plans across staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate open benefits enrollment process.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience managing an applicant tracking system (ATS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS); experience with the Jazz ATS and Namely HRIS platform preferred.
  • Proven experience in areas related to talent acquisition, recruitment, selection, benefits, employee relations, organizational development, and performance management.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work and communicate effectively with employees and management.
  • Ability to adapt well to changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent organization and communication (written and verbal) skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or similar discipline; or at least 4 years of equivalent HR benefits experience and background.
  • At least two (2) years of related recruitment and human resources experience.

The Audience Growth Director will be Responsible for

  • Working with leadership to execute strategy for expanding and growing audiences, across all platforms and on site
  • Helping develop new data tools, such as dashboards and A/B testing platforms.
  • Managing data team, aligning the team around common goals and objectives
  • Identifying the needs of verticals and platforms and clearly communicate those priorities
  • Owning the tactics we use to reach and build audiences; ensuring our editorial teams and product team are following the best guidelines to build audiences
  • Finding new opportunities for IJR to reach new audiences in a changing media landscape

We're seeking a deputy analytics director to assist in creating and maintaining reporting and analytical tools. In this role, you will also provide support for ad hoc data-support requests from editorial and revenue teams, oversee and maintain paid audience acquisition strategies, and troubleshoot issues with reports or data infrastructure and update reports as needed. Additionally, you will meet with Director regularly to provide updates on current progress and discuss any concerns or areas for improvement.

 

The Deputy Analytics Director will:

 

  • Collect and analyze data about our audience  to provide a more holistic picture
  • Break down IJR’s audience based on motivations, behaviors, and attitudes to help identify gaps and trends
  • Help develop and execute a growth strategy for our audiences
  • Monitor for changes in Facebook algorithms and adjust strategy accordingly

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or 1 year of experience in data analysis and information reporting
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Fast-learning and possess high aptitude for learning new analytics platforms
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and learn needed skills by performing assigned work

IJR is seeking a Senior Congressional Correspondent to join our news team, which focuses on original reporting on politics and national news. The correspondent will spend the majority of their time on Capitol Hill when Congress is in session. The remainder of the role will be based out of our office in Old Town Alexandria.

 

Here is what you’ll be responsible for in this position

  • Produce original stories from Capitol Hill, concerning congressional policy and politics
  • Manage a relationship with congressional members, staff, and the Senate press gallery
  • Provide direction to the junior congressional reporter, and seek assistance from the junior congressional reporter as needed
  • Coordinate and consult with other news team members/other editorial teams about Congressional coverage, assisting with sourcing as needed
  • Facilitate multimedia projects from Capitol Hill when possible/desired (ex. Getting a video team to Capitol Hill to do a video with Paul Ryan, getting a photographer to assist with “Cutest Dogs on Capitol Hill,” hosting a Facebook Live show with members of Congress)

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of reporting experience, preferably on a policy or congressional reporting beat
  • A clear understanding of Washington politics and congressional procedure
  • Experience managing one or more editorial team members preferred
  • Proven ability to work independently on Capitol Hill
