Shapiro, Garrity Clash in Pennsylvania’s Sole Gubernatorial Debate
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Republican challenger Stacy Garrity clashed in their only scheduled debate over data-center development, the measles outbreak, education and other issues, while trading criticism over their leadership and political alliances. Shapiro defended state safeguards and his record; Garrity called for a pause on new data centers and attacked his administration’s transparency.

Joshua David Shapiro is an American politician and lawyer serving since 2023 as the 48th governor of Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the attorney general of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2023 and served on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners from 2012 to 2017.
