Utah State rallies with 14 unanswered points to win 17-16

Utah State beat Washington State 17-16 on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, in Logan, Utah, scoring 14 unanswered points after halftime. Washington State led 16-3 at the break after recovering a muffed Utah State kickoff for an early field goal, adding another first-quarter field goal on a 15-play, 54-yard drive, and getting a 54-yard touchdown run from Leo Pulalasi late in the second. Utah State cut the lead to 16-10 in the third when Grady Brosterhous hit Eli Wood for a 27-yard touchdown. In the fourth, after a Washington State fumble by TE Jack Pedersen, Javen Jacobs scored on a 2-yard run with 6:22 left to make it 17-16. The Aggies needed only 39 and 19 yards on the two fumble-driven scoring possessions. Brosterhous threw for 150 yards and a touchdown; Jacobs had 62 rushing yards and a score; Wood finished with six catches for 84 yards. Caden Pinnick went 23 of 36 for 156 yards with a fumble for Washington State, which was held to 64 second-half yards. Washington State next plays at Oregon State on Oct. 17; Utah State next plays at Texas State on Oct. 24.
