Beja, officially styled the City of Beja, is a city and a municipality in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal, as well as the capital of the homonymous district. The population in 2021 was 33,401, in an area of 1,146.44 km2 (442.64 sq mi). The city proper had a population of 21,658 in 2001.
